Preschool Checklist

When evaluating Preschools for your child, consider the following. Never choose a Preschool solely on price, instead make your selection based on the value your child will receive.


Consider the following "Preschool Checklist" below to obtain best the advantage for your child:

  • Established for at least 6 years.
  • Education & child development is the first priority - not babysitting.
  • Director & staff have years of experience in education.
  • Director & staff must love children, have credentials and practical expertise in early education.
  • School must have a great reputation with word of mouth recommendations.
  • Classrooms run by accredited NY State teachers with BS degrees.
  • Teachers with at least 5 years experience.
  • A "staff-to-student" ratio of 1 to 7 or better
  • Licensing by New York State Department of Education and New York Office of Children and Family Services.
  • Facilities for library, gym, theater, playgrounds and large classrooms.
  • A total program that includes specialties and enrichment: dance, drumming, science projects, French, concerts, phys. ed. ,  music and etc.
