Our school was established in September of 1968 and was founded by Nancy Brophy, who was a Lakeland School District teacher at that time.
Tom Thumb was her dream that started with a little Mohegan schoolhouse that later became the ThumBelina’s classrooms of today on the Tom Thumb Campus.
Nancy has been the only owner for over 54 years and the first Director. She is an educator that became a businesswoman, where Excellency in Education was and still is the first priority at Tom Thumb.
Since Tom Thumb’s inception, our vision is to create a safe, comfortable, fun, and loving environment in which to learn. We want our students to leave Tom Thumb with a Love of Learning!
Our mission is to pursue “Excellence in Education” for the very young child. We discover and emphasize the strengths of each child. We cultivate individuality, foster exploration, and make learning fun and interesting. We focus on developing age-appropriate critical thinking and social skills to ensure they reach their full potential and achieve “school success.”
